I've worked in financial services for almost 40 years, mostly as an adviser in London. I started advising on Equity Release since 2002, but the market has changed dramatically since then. Regulation, competition between providers and innovative new products with flexible features which include;
- Voluntary Repayment Plans – being able to make ad-hoc payments to help control the future balance of your mortgage.
- Drawdown Plans – having the flexibility of accessing additional funds in the future should you need them.
- Fixed Early Repayment Charges – guarantees of knowing any future penalty & when they expire.
- Downsizing Protection – the ability to repay the lifetime mortgage with no penalty, should you downsize after 5 years from inception.
I have seen how Equity Release has changed people’s lives for the better, from home improvements or a new car to university fees or a deposit on a first home for a grandchild.
I joined Equity Release Supermarket, one of the largest independent Equity Release specialists with access to the Whole Market and products not available to smaller, ‘non-specialist companies’. Most importantly, we have a shared philosophy of honesty, fairness and transparency.
As well as holding a specialist Equity Release qualification I also hold the Diploma in Mortgage Advice and Practice. Therefore I can advise on all ‘later life lending’ solutions for those aged 55 and over, including those with interest only mortgages that have come to the end of their term.
I am based in Wales, but with clients and family in London and the home counties, I’m happy to travel anywhere in between and can offer both telephone and face-to-face meetings, whichever suits your requirements.
I enjoy sport, but these days my participation is limited to the odd game of golf, and some days it can be very odd!
